This Classic Mercedes Benz 300CD Diesel with 115,250 original, documented miles is in Excellent Condition and would fit someone to drive as a daily driver or as an investment in a Classic which will surely continue to appreciate. The car has been well-taken care of by the previous owner and me as second owner.
This beautiful Mercedes has been well maintained and garaged all its life. The previous owner had the car serviced at the local Mercedes dealership (I have all the dealer stamps and receipts) and I have continued to meticulously document all the maintenance and mechanical refurbishing done since purchasing it in 2011.
All original manuals, registration plate, and records available. I am also including a Haynes 300-page Maintenance and Repair Manual.
The car is in Top Mechanical Condition and drives much like new. The engine uses no oil between oil changes. The paint shines like new and the interior is clean and in top condition. All chrome and aluminum trim is excellent. There are no cracks in the dash and the wood grain accents are in great condition as well. The spare tire is a brand new Michelin X and the jack and complete tool kit are included along with the laminated instructions.
The car starts immediately (even in the midst of winter), it has excellent power and shifts smoothly and precisely. The suspension is controlled and supple. There are no vibrations at any speed. The brakes work well without pulling or pulsations. The power door locks are fast and responsive and air blows out the appropriate vents. Al seats are firm, supportive and comfortable.
The climate controls are functioning perfectly with heat and ice cold A/C. The original Mercedes Servo Control for the climate control has been replaced with a modern, UnwiredTools™ ACCII Upgrade System. (See: unwiredtools.com). Since installing this upgrade, the AC and Heater run with precise temperature control and much better than the old Mercedes Servo System. Most of the Mercedes 300CDs of the ‘76 to ‘82 vintage have this problematic and complicated old system and will eventually leave you with no heat when you most need it. The cost of this upgrade was $1000 and it was money well spent.
The Mercedes In-Series Glow Plugs System was replaced with a modern BERU Parallel Pencil-style glow plugs that heat up faster and more reliably. The parallel circuit for the glow plugs means that if one of the glow plugs fail the other 4 will continue to work and allow you to start the engine (unlike the series system from Mercedes!).
All options work properly including the cruise control, power windows, AM/FM Cassette stereo, Clock, Sunroof, Power Locks. The electric antenna works fine but is not going down all the way. It does go all the way up with good reception. The Stereo is the original Becker Mexico with AM/FM and Cassette, all working perfectly.
5 New Michelin X Tires from COSTCO were installed and balanced at 107,350 miles. They have been rotated once since then.
The car needs no maintenance at this time and is ready to be driven anywhere. The safety inspection from the State of Virginia is current and expires in August of 2015. Liability Insurance is running at about $142 per year. Because it is considered an Antique Car the licensing costs are also much lower than normal.
The car has not been restored cosmetically and sports its original factory paint. The fact that it looks so nice is because it has been well-cared for through the years. There is, however, some checking of the paint by the fuel door, one small rust spot (repairable) and other minor imperfections consistent with the age of the car . Some of the most recent maintenance and refurbishing includes:
· A new Mercedes OEM windshield was installed approximately 5 years ago· The steering damper and rear shock absorbers were replaced at 88,000 miles· Engine oil and filter have been regularly changed at 3000 mile intervals. Last one at 114,460 miles· Transmission fluid, filter and gasket were changed at 107,300· Power Steering Fluid and Filter replaced at 107,300· Fuel Filters (Main+In-Line) replaced at 107,300 and 115,000· Cooling system back-flushed and serviced at 107,600. New drain cock installed too.· Differential Oil flushed, cleaned and refilled with Mobil1 75W90 at 107,600· Diesel pump and injectors purged and cleaned with Moly Diesel Treatment at 107,600· Brake fluid purged and refilled with DOT3 fluid at 107,600· Air Cleaner replaced at 107,300· Valve adjustment and new gasket at 107,900· New battery and 2 halogen headlights at 107,200· 5 new Michelin X tires and balance at 107,350· New fuel return hoses replaced at 107,600· Front Shock Absorbers and exhaust hangers replaced at 107,700· Glow plugs replaced with Beru GV626 Parell System at 107,700· Low-tone horn and light bulbs replaced: instruments, dome, transmission at 107,900· Replaced Climate Control with Unwired Tools system at 107,900· Transmission shifter bushing and windshield washer nozzle replaced at 109,300· Fuel tank screen filter + hose and idle control knob replaced at 109,500· Engine hood blanket, engine mounts, engine v-belts replaced at 110,200· Front brake pads replaced at 115,200

I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this car and, as mentioned before, it would make for a very practical and enjoyable Classic for someone to continue to care for it. It will reward its buyer with a sense of pride, practicality and enjoyment. I will miss it very much but I have to make adjustments for other projects which is why I am selling it.
